How to identify the Mk2 MX5

In 1997 production of the Mk1 ceased and in 1998 the Mk2 Mazda MX5 was unveiled. The rear of the 1998 edition of the MX5 was very similar to the rear of the Mk1 version - the main differences occurred at the end of the bonnet. The popup headlights were gone (due to pedestrian safety) and were replaced by fixed headlights which gave the front of the car a kinder more rounder nose.

The sad fact is, is that the hardtop for you Mazda is most likely to become damaged when it's off the car - either when you are moving it or when it is actually in storage. Damage that occurs to the hardtop in transit cannot really be prevented in any other way than just being very careful, but damage that occurs when the roof is in storage can be easily avoided.
